Ummmmmmm,

I guess my thinking on such a topic kind of follows Ari's in many ways.

To use an old business term/analogy I guess many of us operate somewhat in an ROI (Return on Investment) mode. If you want to term that 'sacrifice' I suppose you can ? It's technically correct I suppose.

We trade something we have for something we want.
And yes, at some point, $1000.00 for the pet rock seems ........ ludicrous.

And our wants can, and do change as well as the value we see in anything in context with where our life is and is heading.
