Default Partner's Break-up

So my primary partner has been having relationship problems with his secondary and has recently confided in me his desire to end the relationship. All of us were good friends before the relationship and their is a good chance of the friendships ending once breakup occurs. How do I support my primary during this time?

How would you support any friend going through a break-up? Be there for him, listen, offer soothing words but don't take sides, make some tea, etc.
