A question of preparedness

"...I sometimes I think there should be either a maturity test or a sanity test to pass before entering into poly relationships."

I read this is a thread and it got me thinking. While there's no real way to test somebody to see if they're ready for relationships, in general, and poly relationships, in particular, I think it could be useful to offer folks new to poly a list of issues that would be good to consider and/or work through to make things easier for them.

The question then, becomes one of "What issues are important to work out before (or in the beginning stages) of a relationship?"

Do you think there should be two kinds of this list, one for married couples and one for everyone else? It seems there could be some differences in what to look out for and work on.

Edit: I just remembered that I started a similar thread a while back, to which you contributed, AT. Just skimmed through it - there are some good posts in that one. It's here: Prepping for poly - how?
