Hello:

I'm married, bi, female, and work in healthcare. I met my husband 5 years ago at a circle. We became friends and eventually started dating. My husband and I would like to meet new people and we are new to the area. He is interested in a V (mfm) relationship. I am interested in meeting people who are neat-o!

New to the forum, but not to poly. My previous relationship grew into a poly relationship, but with so many rules laid out by my "primary" partner, no one wanted to stick around for long. Jealousy, restrictions, time limits, etc prevented us from developing and experiencing intimacy and trust. I'm hoping to build that with others now.

Hello poppet,
Welcome to our forum.

I am in an MFM V, so that part kind of rang a bell for me. Have you been able to find any poly organizations in your area? Sometimes it's fun and helpful to meet up with people live and in person.

We have a lot of good information on this site, so have a look around at our various threads, and see if you have any questions. Your input will always be welcome.

Hope you find all the things you are seeking,
Sincerely,
Kevin T.

Hi Kevin:
I have been looking for poly folks to meet up with, but I have not yet been successful in this area and CL frightens me. I do know in person and live quite a few people in more populated areas. Some of my friends have been poly & out for many years, others not so long. They recommended books and such about 15 years ago. I don't think i have many of them left, but they were interesting reading at the time.

Re: where to find poly folks to meet up with ... I have a few links I can suggest:

http://polyamory.meetup.com/
http://www.polyamory.org/SF/groups.html
http://polyevents.blogspot.com/#localgroups
http://www.polyamory.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11

There are also some poly-friendly dating sites I can list, though that's not the same as a local poly organization.

Re: poly books ... the #1 book I usually recommend is "Opening Up" by Tristan Taormino. It's a fairly new publication (came out in 2008 or something like that).

Regards,
Kevin T.

Thanks for links & book recommendations.

Previously I read:
The Ethical Slut (hated it!)
Polyamory: The New Love without Limits (meh)
Redefining our Relationships: Guidelines for responsible open relationships (liked it, was helpful)

I checked out Opening Up & her website. I love her radio show and will start on the past episodes.

I've read "Ethical Slut" and "Love without Limits." Ethical Slut wasn't my cup of tea overall but I did find (and highlight) a few interesting passages. I liked Love without Limits better.

Opening Up is good because it covers so much ground, and in such a sensible way. The website is good and has many resources.
