as to telling the parents it sounds like it isn't really related unless you really think that if this doesn't work out soon that you won't be sticking around for long?

It sounds infuriating to me. I am definitely not cut out for such a relationship I guess. I need equality and open communication that is respectful and honors everyones needs and desires for the future...
