Default Opinions about Oregon/Portand area

So, my husband, girlfriend, and I are very strongly considering moving to the Portland area. Anyone have any experience in that region? I lived in Spokane for awhile, and I have always liked the Northwest. It just seems that some people hate the Portland area, and I am wanting some first hand info on living there.

Default it rains

it rains an incredible amount...there's a link to neighborhood info on the Real Estate page on yahoo...I check that for income levels and education levels, and things like rainfall and sunny days-some places like Olympia WA and Portland are known for their high suicide rate-but nothing a little vitamin D won't cure...just very wet.
Seems to be a good poly area though.
