Hello all! I'm new to the forum, but not exactly new to poly. Hubby and I have been together for 10 yrs, married for 7, and on again/off again open the whole time we've been married. We started off as swingers, but that quickly didn't feel right for me. We progressed to being able to have friends with benefits. We closed for a while when I became pregnant with our 2nd child. It just didn't feel right to me to be sleeping with others while carrying his baby, and being an emotional pregnant woman, I wanted his focus solely on myself and baby. When we did open up again, I decided that poly was much more the way to go for me. I've had one poly relationship that ended very badly due to being taken advantage of financially and have just entered into my 2nd with a wonderful guy whom I've been friends with for 3 yrs.

Welcome aboard.

When speaking of various forms of non-monogamy...it ain't poly if you're just fucking around. While polyamory, open relationships, and swinging are all distinctly different approaches to non-monogamy, they are not mutually exlusive. Folks can, and some do, engage in more than one of them at a time--and it's all good. |
