Ooh, excellent topic! I'm fascinated by other cultures, which is why I want to travel internationally, and study cultural psychology.

Keep the cultural sharing flowing, everyone! ^_^

Do you have any Native Alaskan culture to share with us?~
I've been CRAMMED for time with school finals coming up. I did post it-but I think I posted it in KDT's thread.
That's what happens when I try to keep up with too many conversations at one time!

I will try to find it and copy/paste it here.
On that note-maybe we should copy/paste some of the stuff about the Mormon culture and all of that here too? It's pretty interesting and certainly in Utah and Independence Missouri-people would encounter it.

@ LR ... perhaps I may be of some assistance?

For stuff about Alaska Natives, click on ...
... ignoring just the last bit of that last post linked to above.

For a bunch-o-stuff about Mormon culture, click on ... http://www.polyamory.com/forum/showt...362#post249362 ... and just ignore the stuff about the Giants and Thomas Covenant.

For a bit more stuff about Mormon culture, click on ... http://www.polyamory.com/forum/showt...170#post251170 and http://www.polyamory.com/forum/showt...171#post251171 (ignoring the disturbing references to Dirtclustit)

And bonus: The Community of Christ (a.k.a. RLDS church) is a split-off from the "main Mormon church" and you can read more on that by clicking on ... http://www.polyamory.com/forum/showt...263#post251263

As for the "main Mormon church" ... I'll happily answer any questions you folks may have for me. (But I might get pulled away from my computer for a week or something while my poly companions and I are trying to move to Seattle so have patience.)

Um, sorry Kevin but the point of this thread is to "share" information on different cultures in a way that is simple-tid-bit sized paragraphs that others can easily read, I don't think it's very helpful to post a bunch of links with no paragraphs in this thread going into detail about what the links lead to, because I don't really expect that many people to get all their information from just clicking links we post here and adimittedly that feels a little tedious.~

Sorry, just trying to help.~

Love,

ColorsWolf

Well okay, but I didn't mean for anyone to click on *all* those links; just the ones that caught whose-ever's interest.

Most of the Alaska Natives links hook up to small bite-size bits of info. But the Mormon culture links lead to big huge treatises, and if simple tidbit sized paragraphs that others can easily read be the point/objective of this thread, then copying/pasting the stuff from those links would only then overwhelm this thread (and drive off the potentially interested).

By the way, the first "Mormon link" I mentioned led straight to a post that I already posted in this thread, so, too late to undo that damage.

I could compile the Alaska Native links into one (relatively) long post but I'm just too darn lazy (and pressed for time: in less than three hours I must unplug my computer and it could be weeks before I get back to this thread). So maybe LR will use those links and compile that info (since I know she's got lotso time, ).

Didn't intend to be a buzzkill, just supposed in my own mind that one or two people here or there might find one or two links helpful (or intriguing).

But let's nevermind about the links for now. Just ask me questions about the cultures I know of (e.g. Mormon, Utahn, Michiganian, or New Mexican), and I'll gladly answer them as well as I can. Keeping in mind, of course, that Mormon culture happens to be my specialty.

Other than that, pay me no mind; fly on the wall, fly on the wall.

Kevin

I'm all for posting links, but please include some thing with them like give us a small paragraph for example about the cultures you mentioned.~

Like if I'm talking about Native American cultures I would say, "...shapeshifting is often found in many Native American cultures, but often they are talking about the shapeshifting of the spirit to go on some kind of journey to learn some thing about yourself, how ever these journeys could take place within very real considered places where spirits may speak to you."

and then I would post a link for further reading, see simple?~ ^_^

I do love how you try though and are so enthusiastic!~ ^_^

Love,

Well yes I do try.

Anyway, I think I need to cut the ties as far as responding to your posts is concerned. I say that with regrets, but between the unexpected criticisms and the condescending "encouragement," it's too stressful for me. I'm not good at handling that type of stress. I need a very long rest from it.

I can't promise I'll never respond to other members in threads that you start, but honestly there's another way you can deal with me if I (as I've been known to do) post something hurtful, inappropriate, or ignorant. Just contact the mods with whatever grievances you have. If I'm really out of line, they'll let me know and put a stop to it. I think that's the best way for us to manage our differences, sad as I am to say it.

Anyway I wish you well and will just let others carry on with this thread (exercising better judgment than I, probably). I'm interested in learning about other cultures and will continue to read whatever's posted here.

Regards,
Kevin T.

Wow, I have no idea where that came from.~ I've tried as hard as I could to accommodate you Kevin, *sigh* but there's only so much I can do with someone who's mind is as unstable and unpredictable as your's.~ *sigh* Still like I have said before, I never cut people out of my life no matter what, I will always be willing to listen what ever you have to say, I will always be there for you with a kind gentle warm loving smile even when it doesn't seem like it, I will always love you, encourage you, and be willing to try to understand you even if you are blind to it, when ever you feel like accepting it.~

I hope you have a great life,

Love,

ColorsWolf

And this is a fine example of online gaslighting. It's trying to pin the unstable label on someone else when the instability is within.

You haven't consistently acted like a kind, generous soul here, ColorsWolf. Instead you've been unpredictably angry and threatening, then pretend that threatening persona never existed.

You're the unstable and unpredictable one here. Not kdt.
