I absolutely agree - I think it's perfectly possible to have a loving, intimate relationship with someone and it be non-sexual. i think that it can go beyond the normal "BFF" thing as well - I'm talking romantic love and everything that goes with that but the sex.

Something like that would cause intense jealousy in the minds of a lot of monogamous people, so I thin kthat it would most certainly fall under the poly umbrella.

But what it all comes down to it, labels really shouldn't matter - you are what you are and you need and want what you need and want. As long as everyone is ok with the arrangement and the level of happiness increases, then nobody is getting hurt, or lied to.
