I was not using the "royal" we, I was using the collective "we". As in "a pronoun that means more than one person".

Good for you. How did she react? Do you feel you can stand by your decision and not cave when she turns on the charm, "poor me" act, or whatever it is that usually hooks you in? Do you have support, as in other people you can turn to?
