That's actually not "worse" if everyone's being open and honest about it (which granted, they probably are not). But it's not the theme itself, it's the way that they present it that makes it "better" or "worse" (for lack of more specific terminology).

I guess it depends how you look at it.

It really made me quite sad because one of the girls who was interviewed for the documentary on it (she used the site to pick up sugar daddies) said that she wouldn't date someone who didn't have a lot of money.

I can't imagine that way of life ever being fulfilling.

At least with an affair it has room to grow, because you may love the person and end up leaving for them, but with that it's just about greed and lust - I'm sure plenty of affairs can be about that too. But anyway, that's just my opinion.

In my opinion and experience there is never room to "grow" in and affair.... it's cheating, fair and square. It leaves a person with no integrity or dignity. Full stop. That is not growth. That IS a growth, of the large ugly kind, right on your forehead that says, "I am too weak to face up to my fears and to take my life into my own hands." It is a growth that says, "I can't live up to my responsibility, that I would rather hurt innocent people in the mess i have created and in my selfish way than be an advocate for their best interest and mine."

Sorry, my friend.... you are so wrong and really need to check your values and beliefs, .....in my opinion.

Hmm, you make a good point.

I guess maybe I'm trying to accept the rationalisation that my mother used in having an affair with her boyfriend for 2 years before he left his wife. I spent a lot of time counselling her about it (pretty unhealthy, I know) but it's hard to condemn people you love for their choices just because they're against your beliefs.

It was a pretty strange situation, anyway. But you're right; it's never right to lie.

EDIT: Also, good things can come out of bad. I don't recommend it but it's true for me that sometimes I have to experience what I don't want to do/be like before I can recognise how I do want to be and act differently in future. I guess people can grow out of selling themselves too. And by grow out of, I mean, grow to understand that it's not something they want to continue and change their way of acting.
