Default Poly Concept

I wanted to post this here because it seems like it would apply/be read most.
Under "New to".

To me it seems that one of the most important premises of polyamory that attracts people is an awareness/acceptance that it may not be possible to find ourselves in a relationship where we are "clicking" 100% on ALL levels with any single individual i.e. emotionally, physically, spiritually etc. And yet we may be intensely synchronized with an individual on one particular level - or maybe even pieces of all of them - but not ALL.
You often hear a lot of talk about relationships in the vein of "all relationships require compromise". But what does that mean ? Does it mean we need to "compromise" pieces of our internal natures in order to mold ourselves to the needs & expectations of someone else - even if it's NOT in our own best interest ? Is that REALLY the best approach to living ?
I think the concept of polyamory speaks directly to this.
It's an acknowledgment that we can't necessarily be "everything" to anyone, but that we care enough about them to want them to pursue their full potential without us being a hindrance. So by standing WITH them, helping & encouraging however we can, we're expressing our true love & affection for them in a meaningful way!
So to me - it's really that simple in concept. In practice .......well, it takes practice But I feel the end result allows people to be the best they can be.
