Hello from the central coast of California

Hi everyone,

I'm a 44 year-old man who is in the process of getting divorced from my wife of 18 years. Much of our trouble stems from my feelings of being polyamorous and us not being able to find a way to balance those feelings. So, I'm here because I'm interested in exploring what the polyamorous lifestyle is and if I'm in fact so natured. I'd love to meet other folks who have moved from monogamy to polyamory and to learn about their experiences. I'm also interested to see if there are other folks in my local area who are interested to meet in person and talk about the issues over coffee.

Cheers

Greetings!

I'm in a somewhat similar position and geographic location, though I'm still in my long-term relationship with my primary/life partner. She is monogamous, and we are working through my polyamorous feelings and the fact that I've recently added a secondary partner. It's not easy, but so far we've been able to move slowly forward. I'd be happy to field any specific questions, with the caveat that we're still working through things ourselves.

There was a thread for central coasters that has had a little activity in the past month. I would love to see some type of local social activities for poly folks; it's difficult to make the trip down to LA or up to the Bay where much of the poly socializing seems to happen.

Hello ootnaboot,
Welcome to our forum.

I largely "stumbled upon poly" after finding myself in love with a married woman. Prior to that, I had undergone many changes in philosophy over a period of about ten years, and relinquished a lot of conservative beliefs.

Some links you can try to look for poly people in your area:

http://www.pof.com/

http://www.polymatchmaker.com/

http://polyevents.blogspot.com/#localgroups
http://www.polyamory.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11

The http://groups.yahoo.com/group/slo_poly/ link sounds promising, but you may find any number of the above links helpful.

Regards,
Kevin T.
