Skype was a huge help this last time my hubby was away. It doesn't seem like it would make a difference, but seeing his facial expressions while we talked calmed me some.
You have to arrange a way to get on at the same time and if you are too busy it can be hard. We usually picked the quietest time in the evening just before bed.
And being in familiar surroundings with lots of family will help you so much!
