For about a year when I was in college, I was celibate. Well, it wasn’t by choice (come on, you guys gotta know me by now).

Anyway, a lot of poly folks are living that way today. The poly dating pool isn’t tiny, but it’s not massive, either. In many cases, one member of the poly couple is dating someone or several someones while the other partner is not. If the couple’s guidelines allow for outside relationships without involving the other partner, this can result in a few lonely nights for one of them (and a sore back for the other one).

So, how do you handle it when your poly partners are all dating others, but you’re home on a Friday night with the only choice being Cherry Garcia or Mud Pie?

As always, our meeting will take place at TGI Friday's restaurant at 2501 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL‎ Thursday June 9, 2011, with the discussion starting at 8 p.m. Feel free to come a little earlier and head back to the private room if you want to order food or drink before we begin.

We saw you knitting. Didn't know it was you. :/ Sorry. We're usually also very shy, and are often not the life of the party. LOL We usually don't meet up with ppl at meet and greet type events or house parties either. We are USUALLY typical wall flowers. LOL :rolleyes: And then we get pissed because no-one seemed to like us. LOL This meeting was kinda nice as a few people came up to us after the meeting and introduced themselves. We already knew Mark. We met him about 2 years ago at a house party....Well, actually met his (now ex) wife there, and met him at a later date, then again at a Polytampa meeting. We liked this meeting a bit better than the polytampa meetings.

For everyone else... it was a good topic for the meeting... Learned some interesting ways to communicate. One group uses the Hot tub for poly family discussions... apparently relaxing while discussing/fighting is a good way to get answers.

Several people pointed out that when one person is "busy," the other is able to focus on the kids, the movies/tv shows/books, etc. And eventually, the roles are reversed... the other partner becomes "busy" and now their social calendar is full.

I've not been to that point... so it was fun to hear others' experiences.

There were several new people at my table... both new to the group and new to poly... Fun to hear the different perspectives.

@T&L This group (Bound to Love) has a different personality than PolyTampa (BTW Mark moderates PolyTampa now...)

I didn't see that you would be there until after the meeting--wondered if it was you guys.. but you didn't say anything that convinced me you were the same. (and starting a conversation with, "Do I know you online...? is awkward... I've been wrong a few times. )

I have to head home quickly when the meeting ends because I live about 1.25 hours away.

I promise, next time I'll come over and chat w/ you.

Yes, we know about Marc moderating the Polytampa meetings. Those meetings just weren't for us. Wrong vibe and personality. We liked the meeting last night though.

This is the cross-over group for Fetish and Poly. Attendance is open to people who are into both, either, or neither as long as you are interested and open-minded....

Many polys come to this meeting... although some monos attend. The topic tends to be poly- and fetish friendly.

Don't know if anyone here still attends the Bound to Love Poly meetings. I am going to be the one on Thursday 3/8. It will be my first.

DH and I attended our first Poly Tampa meeting last month. Not sure yet if we will keep going. The moderator put us off a bit. That is all I will say about that.

Since we are just starting to make our presence known in the local poly community we are pretty much just trying out different groups until we find our niche.
